TRIP REPORT

This has been the fourth Photography Expedition that I have worked with Rolando Arburola owner of Costa Rica Dive. Each has been a unique experience providing a myriad of subject matter for the photographers participating in the trip.

This past trip, July 22 nd – July 31 st , was a combination of travel in both Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Rolando presented an itinerary that catered to all different interests when it came to photography. Costa Rica Dive crew: Elvis Madrigal our tour guide in Nicaragua, and Juan Angulo the driver who's provided excellent transportation for the week in an oversized bus and a dedicated driver. The accommodations were also top notched from a resort overlooking the Pacific Ocean with its own beach, to a Spanish Colonial 4 star hotel in the midst of the city, to beach bungalows where you heard the surf put you to sleep.

The trip encompassed hiking in both dry and rainforests in Costa Rica before traveling over the boarder to Nicaragua. In Nicaragua we visited colonial Spanish towns, amazing cathedrals, active volcanoes, crater lakes, and shopping markets. We stayed in the colonial city of Granada, visited historic Leon, peered into the Masaya volcanic crater, and stayed on an island in the middle of Lade Nicaragua, Ometepe Island. Amazing. What we didn't expect however was the personalized journeys off the beaten path during our stay. We photographed a cigar making factory, families in a small town, a family who made bricks in the hot sun, a ceramics factory, a hammock making facility, an abandoned hospital, an orphanage, schools, and the list goes on and on. In terms of photography it was a overwhelming in the opportunity to document the people, architecture, landscape, and way of life that defines the two countries.

I highly recommend the services of all parties involved in this trip . Costa Rica Dive and his crew made sure our every need was met. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I look forward to continued trips to unique places. You guys are the best, and many new friends were made.
