1. Can I use my driver license in Nicaragua?
You can use your drivers license for 30 days after entering the country. If you stay longer, you must get your Nicaraguan license at the Transit Police office.

Most hotels offer long-distance calls through the local telephone company (ENITEL). There are some other operator and collect services. For AT&T, call 164 or 174. MCI, 166 or 167. SPRINT, 161 or 171. Canada, 168. Germany, 169. The Netherlands, 177. The UK, 175.
3. Should I keep my passport with me at all time?
It is better to carry a photocopy of your passport, except when crossing Nicaragua borders.
4. What happen if I decide to stay longer than the visa allows?
You must apply for a visa extension at the " Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería" office (Tel. (505) 249-2981). Bring your passport and previous visa.
5. Are there tropical diseases in Nicaragua?
Because Nicaragua is a tropical country, you may be exposed to tropical diseases when you visit hot, humid jungle areas and remote places. Infection is rare when staying in cities. If you plan to visit rainforests, bring light clothes & insect repellent.
6. What kind of clothes should I use?
Nicaragua is a hot country, so you should bring light clothes to cover most of your body. If you plan to go to the mountains (in the north), bring a pullover or light jacket, as those parts are cooler, especially at night. It is necessary to bring a raincoat and waterproof boots when visiting rainforests. When going hiking it is better to use trousers and long-sleeved shirts to avoid scratches caused by bushes.
