By air: - From Canada: Grupo Taca flies directly from Toronto to Managua. Air Transat and Royal Vacations offer charters in the summer.
From Central America: Many airlines fly from Central America's main cities to Nicaragua. For example Copa and Grupo Taca.
From Europe and Africa: Iberia offers the best rates with daily flights (except Mondays). These flights sometimes require a night in Madrid and a stopover in Miami. There are also other companies offering the same service, such as American Airlines, Air Madrid, Condor Airlines and Continental Airlines.
From Asia and Oceania: Go to any of the airports in United States that have direct flights to Nicaragua, for example Miami, New York, Dallas or Houston.
From South America: Fly with Taca, Copa or American Airlines.
From United States: Miami - 2 hours, Houston - 2 ½ hours. There are direct flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, New Orleans, Washington and Dallas to Nicaragua with Grupo Taca or any of the other already mentioned companies.
Ground transportation:
Buses from San José (Costa Rica), take approximately 9 hours or less to reach Managua.
Transnica buses leave San José at 5:30 a.m and 9:00 a.m from Str. 22, Av. 3-5.
Buses return from Managua at 7:00 a.m and 10:00 a.m, passing through Granada.
Quality King leaves San José at 5:00 a.m 100 m east of the bus station Alfaro-Tracopa .
Buses return from Managua at 1:00 p.m, 200 m north of the old Cine Dorado.
Tica Bus leaves San José at 6:30 a.m, 7:30 a.m & 12:30 p.m from the Soledad Church, Str. 9 & 11, Av. 4. Return buses depart at 6:30 a.m, 7:30 a.m & 12:30 p.m from 200 m north of the Old Cine Dorado in Barrio Bolonia.
From Costa Rica: Border crossing at Peñas Blancas.
From Honduras: Border crossing at Las Manos and El Espino.
From El Salvador: Border crossing at El Guasaule.
