All Room Rates are Based on Double Occupancy and do not include Sales or ICT Taxes. Each additional Adult is $40, each child is $20. Lodging includes full menu breakfast and unlimited access to La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park ($25 value, 2006; $29 value, 2007).

Lagoon Pool Open between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
During your stay at the Peace Lodge, make sure you take time to enjoy our Lagoon Pool. It’s the perfect place for a sunset Jacuzzi. The area is a collection of three bathing areas: a hot Jacuzzi, a warm waterfall pool and a cold pool. Fresh towels and refreshing water with lemon await you poolside. Trout Lake & The Big Trout Bar
Fishing anyone? Cast a line in our two level Trout Lake. Catch dinner or just have some fun! The Big Trout Bar is a great place to have lunch, meet other guests over cocktails, relax in between hikes or exchange fish stories. The deck is a great place to lie in the sun or take a dip in one of our two Jacuzzis.
Hummingbird Garden
Our Hummingbird Garden adds new meaning to birdwatching. These normally skittish creatures are so tame they will feed right from your hand. This is the only documented place in the world to find 24 hummingbird species.
Serpentarium
Our museum quality Serpentarium exhibits 30 of the most beautiful and deadly snakes of Costa Rica. The exhibition puts you face to face with such famous snakes as the Bushmaster, Terciopelo, Green Vinesnake, and Golden Eyelash Viper to name just a few.
Bromeliad Garden
Over 500 types of Bromeliads await you in our Bromeliad Garden. This incredible collection is nothing less than breathtaking as the colors come alive. A few in our collection are so rare, they have yet to be officially named and identified.
Casita de la Paz
Enjoy life as it was a hundred years ago in our Casita de la Paz. This unique reproduction was built using only the tools available to the average farmer a century ago. We invite our guests to step back in time, taste some fresh milk (right from the cow), take a ride in an ox-driven cart, sample freshly made tortillas and see how the Ticos lived and worked on rural farms.
Ranarium
Take a walk through our one of a kind Ranarium. Poison dart frogs and leaf frogs are everywhere, climbing freely in a natural setting. You won’t want to miss this truly un-’frog’ettable experience. Each evening, hotel guests are invited to tour the exhibit, when the night ‘leapers’ come to life, $5 per person.
New Aviary!
Our largest Butterfly Observatory in the world will soon be one of the largest
Aviaries in the world! We are transforming our Observatory to house many of the
most beautiful and exotic birds of Costa Rica. But don’t worry, we’re building a
Butterfly Observatory that will be better than ever! Completely enclosed and
climate controlled, the butterflies are ‘moving on up.’
New Butterfly Observatory!
Our seven years of experience in reproducing and presenting the butterflies of Costa Rica has given us many new ideas and techniques that we are incorporating in our new glass and polycarbonate enclosed observatory. Rain or shine, the butterflies will be at their best.
In-Room Massages
Enjoy a one or two hour massage, alone or at the same time as your companion.
We offer both female and male masseuses trained at the University of Costa Rica.
Wedding for 2: Elopement! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I have to tell you, marrying at the Peace Lodge is the easiest thing you will ever do! Do you have a date in mind for your wedding? Our room rates vary on the time of year. I would definitely recommend staying at least two nights and staying in one of our Deluxe rooms (www.waterfallgardens.com). These are the most romantic rooms on the property.
As far as the ceremony:
We charge $300 to have the ceremony at Waterfall Gardens. This charge guarantees that you are the only couple marrying at the Gardens on your day, the bouquet for the bride, the corsage for the groom, a witness for your ceremony and coordination of the details. Peace Lodge is located on the grounds of Waterfall Gardens, however, instead of having you hike down the trails in your wedding attire, we will transport the groom and the officiant via van to the Exit trail of the falls, so they can walk the shorter distance to the Magia Blanca fall for the ceremony. Then the bride and her assistant, from our staff, will be transported the same way. We recommend either a 10.30 a.m. or 4.30 p.m. ceremony. Since we are open to the public, we do have visitors throughout the day to the waterfalls. At these times, there are significantly fewer people on the property.
Immediately following the ceremony, you are welcome to take photos closer to the falls and next to the famous La Paz Waterfall. Upon returning to the hotel we can greet you with a Romance Package in your room. We will fill your room with rose petals, candles, romantic music, champagne and chocolate ($150).
As far as an officiant, the only type I can offer is a lawyer. This is not to say that you cannot find a priest or minister or other religious officiant on your own, but I only have access to a lawyer. The charge is $500 for the lawyer to perform the ceremony, file the paperwork in Costa Rica and return the processed paperwork to you in the states, translated.
