RAIN FOREST AERIAL TRAM CARIBE
October 1st, 2007 & September 30th, 2008
|
The tour
Consists of 7 zip lines with 6 platforms in between the stretches which provide the possibility of admiring a 360 degree view of the surrounding forest. The first cable starts from a ground platform and stretches 80 meters across Molinete River onto a Caobilla tree platform 12 meters above ground. From here a 140 meter cable runs across the river and over an island and finalizing at the base of a ridge to a ground platform. We walk to the next cable which brings us from the ridge to the middle of a gigantic tree known as Tostado. This tree is endemic to this area and is very rare. Once atop this tree platform we transport ourselves via a 90 meter cable to another Caobilla tree located at the edge of the river. Cable brings us back to land where we follow the trail to the main road or back up to the start to do it again!

Corinto River Trekking Description
The rainforest is one of the planet’s least understood ecosystems. Its difficult access and harsh makes it a challenge for explorers. With us, you’ll learn how to explore the wonders of the rainforest in complete safety.
Just one hour away from San José, the varied topography of our 1,200-acre private reserve dares you to discover the rainforest’s mysteries and incredible wild beauty during a trekking tour led by our expert naturalist guides.
If you have an explorer’s spirit and a desire to get to know the rainforest, you’ll love this adventure. This hike offers plenty of action tempered with time to explore the rainforest and the Corinto River.
Our journey begins at the main building of our Atlantic park. We will be among the first ones to board the Tram, which will carry us to Tower 12. Along the way, you’ll become educated on the proper way to safely explore real primary rainforest, and then you’ll begin the hike down to the Corinto River.
Dense primary forest surrounds you. Along the way there are small but difficult ascents, and at times a bit of mud adds to the adventure and challenge. The hike is demanding, but the rewards are fantastic.
The river is gorgeous. The crystalline waters gather high in the mountains before they course by you in the middle of an incredible forest. You can take a refreshing dip in one of the river’s natural pools surrounded by nature in its purest form. After a rest on the riverbank and a well-deserved picnic-style lunch, you’ll hike back to Tower 12. This time you’ll walk along the trail that separates the Rain Forest Aerial Tram’s reserve from Braulio Carrillo National Park.
By the time you start heading back, you will have a new understanding of the intricacy of the rainforest. Now that you have walked and lived this experience, the sweeping panoramic views become something even more rewarding: they become a window into the world’s most complex community. With your guide, you’ll bring all the day’s experiences together from this fascinating expedition. Back at our main facilities, you can take a shower and get off all the mud, leaves and branches you might have collected during your hike.
Departure for San José is at 4 p.m., and you’ll get back to your hotel around 5:30 pm.
