The Tarcoles River is home to one of the world's largest American crocodile populations on the wild. Jungle Crocodile Safari has been running a tour at this river since 1994. Ever since we have committed ourselves to both our visitors and the environment. Jungle Crocodile Safari sponsors crocodile research and supports environmental education programs for local school children.

The Tour consists on a journey of two hours for the River, one of the four ends in the Gulf of Nicoya on the Océano Pacífico. Leaving of jetty, the boat goes river up until a certain place, there they approach to the boat, mature copies of Crocodiles, which can be photographed and filmed by the tourists to few distance meters. Some of these animals reach superior sizes to the four meters of longitude. The guide goes explaining during the journey the ecology of the crocodiles and the birds, his social behavior and the characteristics of his hábitad. Later on the boat descends toward the outlet of the river and area of swamps entering to the channel of Guacalillo.
During the whole journey they can be observed more than 50 species of native and migratory birds. The area that you travels is the most important refuge in the Red Limpet in the country for what its presence is frequent. To our tourists they are offered a drink that consists on a bottle of water, an informative pamphlet it is given to all color of the birds.
This tour depend of high and low tides.
