After a splendid breakfast at our hotel we shuttle to the quiet village of La Tigra where we start our scenic bike ride by the true rural Costa Rica. We’re heading towards Arenal Volcano, the most spectacular of Costa Rica’s active volcanoes. This evening we’ll visit the beautiful Eco Termales Hot Springs and enjoy a special homemade meal prepared by Doña Mireya and her family.

Day 3: Fortuna – Tronadora
Today we ride the deserted southern shore of Lake Arenal using an abandoned lane through secondary forest, crossing several streams and enjoying superb views of the lake and the Volcano.
Today's distance: 33 to 53 km / 20.5 to 33 miles.

Day 5: Rio Celeste
We’ll take the morning off our bikes today and do a guided hike on the slopes of Tenorio Volcano to the magnificent Rio Celeste (Blue River). After a group lunch we hop on our bike again and ride downhill to the town of Bagaces. We’ll experience a dramatic change of scenery today as we go from the lush rainforest, to the brownish tropical dry forest on the west. This afternoon we shuttle 2 hours to Playa Sámara. Our ride today is 31 km / 19 miles.
