Half Day Mountain Bike Tour

- Distance: 13 to 26 km / 8 to 16 milesAltitude gain: 85 mts / 280 feet
- Terrain: Secondary road of gravel and sand with a few rocky spots.
- Difficulty: Easy to moderate, flat with a few short hills.

This ride takes us on an old road connecting Arenal Dam with the main entrance to Arenal Volcano National Park. From there we go towards the Arenal Observatory Lodge and the village of El Castillo. We'll be biking on a quiet lane surrounded by dense forest and a few cattle farms. Along the ride we often see howling monkeys, coatis, and many birds like toucans, egrets and king fishers. We'll stop for a picnic on the shore of Lake Arenal where it's possible to swim. The volcano is visible during most of the ride and we can often hear its activity while we bike.

RINCON DE LA VIEJA (3NIGHTS)

Day 3:

- Terrain: Rolling hills. Road mostly paved with some sections of gravel.

This is our traditional tour on the road around the north shore of Arenal Lake. This lane has very little traffic and offers the most relaxing ride through tropical forest full of monkeys, birds and the views of the lake as well as a chance to feel the unhurried rural life in this remote part of Costa Rica. We'll offer a picnic snack and lunch will be served at a restaurant at the end of the ride.

Day 4:
Lodging: Rincon de la Vieja.
Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner.

• Afternoon: Hiking in Rincon de la Vieja (Geysers Section)

Day 8:
CLASICO GRANADA MASAYA VOLCANO

This fascinating tour has it all. We’ll start in the morning, heading towards Masaya Volcano National Park. Here, we’ll reach the active crater and explore the surrounding countryside. Then, we’ll visit San Juan de Oriente and the Pueblos Blancos (The White Towns), which are picturesque villages. You’ll be able to watch artists in action as they work in their traditional studios. On the way back we’ll stop at Catarina’s breathtaking overlook and take in the unparalleled view of the Lagoon of Apoyo and other places of interest.

The next stop is the handicrafts market in Masaya, where 90% of Nicaragua’s art is produced. The tour ends with a peaceful boat trip through the languid waters that divide the dreamy islands of Granada, followed by a tour of the city itself. We’ll visit the main buildings, monuments and museums that comprise the oldest colonial city in the Americas.

This great mix of different destinations makes this tour one of the most complete and exciting ones in all of Nicaragua.

Mombacho Volcano

Description

Leaving the hotel early in the morning we will be taken to the Mombacho Volcano that hosts one of the few cloud forests located on the pacific side of Nicaragua. The altitude is 1,400 meters above sea level. This is the fifth volcano in the chain and tourists are taken to the top to watch a great number of orchids unique for the site and a diverse fauna, appreciated in particular by bird lovers. On the top there is a small museum and a scientific laboratory. From this level, you can observe the crater of the volcano and an impressing view of the city Granada, the Lake of Nicaragua and Zapatera Island. As well you will have the opportunity to try the safe and enjoyable canopy tour, situated in "Hacienda Cutirre". This is a tour you shouldn't miss during your visit to Nicaragua.

Day 10:
Departure from Nicaragua to Costa Rica.
